Read before
you start.

Black Swan Project publishes investigative journalism. Not medical advice. The distinction matters. Read it.

Informational Only

Site content — including articles, audio transmissions, FOIA archives, supplement indexes, and practitioner directory entries — is informational only. It is not medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice. It does not replace consultation with a licensed provider.

When an article describes a protocol, a dose, a breathing technique, an immersion temperature, or any practice parameter: we are reporting what the published study or declassified document recorded. We are not recommending that you do it.

Before Any Protocol

Before starting any breathing protocol, cold exposure regimen, supplement, fast, meditative exercise, nootropic intake, or any body-mind practice discussed on this site:

  • Consult a licensed health provider
  • Disclose any pre-existing conditions, pregnancy, or medications
  • Start at the lowest exposure level and scale gradually
  • Stop immediately at any abnormal symptom
  • Never practice extreme conscious breathing in or near water, while driving, or at altitude

Documented Specific Risks

Some protocols discussed on this site have documented serious risks:

  • Wim Hof / hyperventilation: shallow-water blackout risk (death by drowning). Never practice in water. Never drive immediately afterward.
  • Cold immersion: cardiovascular risk in people with pre-existing conditions; hypothermia risk with incorrect exposure time.
  • Supplements:drug interactions can be severe. Study doses don't always translate to commercial products due to bioavailability differences.
  • Deep meditative practices: documented in clinical literature as capable of triggering psychotic episodes in predisposed individuals. If you have family history of psychosis, seek professional supervision.

No Guarantees

There are no implied or explicit guarantees about the results of any protocol discussed. Cited studies are on average populations under controlled conditions. Your physiology, history, and context are unique.

External Verification

Every article links its primary sources (peer-reviewed studies, FOIA archives, inventor's notes). We invite you to read them yourself and form your own conclusions. See methodology and editorial standards for process details.

If You're In Crisis

If you're experiencing a mental health crisis: in the United States, dial 988. In Mexico, SAPTEL 55-5259-8121. In Europe, 116 123. The line is 24/7 and confidential. Black Swan Project is not a crisis service and does not replace immediate professional help.

Thinking clearly about strange evidence also requires caring for the body doing the thinking. Start slow. Cite the studies. Ask your doctor.
